It’s been awhile since I have posted an update as I have been having a lot of fun just enjoying Gracie’s company and seeing how she gets more trusting and loving every day. She routinely wakes me in the middle of the night to play, or cuddles with me when I can’t sleep. She has become the most joyous part of my life. But I received some bad news today at the vet. Gracie is in early stages of kidney failure. This is the same thing that happened to Gambit. The good news is that we are going to try a few treatment’s to give her a high quality of life for as long as we can. We are starting over the next few weeks by lowering the dose of her thyroid medicine as we have seen changes with both numbers based on the dose. I do know that a correlation is not necessarily causation, so lets hope this helps a bit. We will then probably put her on a prescription diet that will also, I hope, help.
Unfortunately, we do know that outcome is more a matter of when then if. When I made the decision to adopt a senior, I knew it was about quality and not quantity, and that is definitely going to be the case. I just hope that Gracie really knows how much she is loved for the last part of her life.
