Gracie has fully healed physically from her surgery. That’s the good news. Mentally I’m not so sure as she has developed a new habit I’m not sure I like, hiding in the mornings. Before the surgery I would play with her for a bit before I showered and got ready for work. Now, she runs and hides somewhere in the house, I think under the stairs, until I leave and she hears that the house is quiet. I think that she thinks I’m going to take her from the house again since all of our trips to the vet, around 3 in the course of a month, have happened early in the day. I’m hoping she will better on the weekend since I tend to “sleep in” (I’m usually up by 7:30/8:00. My students would not call that sleeping in). I’m also hoping that in time she realizes that I’m not going to take from the house again, at least until her next general check up in March.
When I get home from work she seems her regular self however, a new habit I’m happy with is that after we play a bit when I get home she takes off to the stairs to get some sun. I usually find her on the stairs when I get home.
One final thought, she does seem more jittery, more of a scaredy cat since the surgery. I’m hoping she will calm more over the next few weeks and months, but I will be keeping a close eye on her.
Some updated pictures. You can really see how well her eye has healed:

***UPDATE: Gracie was indeed hiding in the basement. She came out when she only heard music in the house and I was sitting quietly. As soon as she saw me she ran back in. I’m sure in a little time we will be back to playing before I leave for work.
