A Bad Night, Followed by a Great Day

Last night seemed to be a nice night. Gracie spent a bunch of time without the brace, sleeping, eating and playing. She is still keeping herself in the basement, but I’m confident that will change when the collar comes off for good. Eventually it was time to call it a night so I put the collar back on and called it a night.

Around 1:30 AM we had a power outage that really scared my little girl. When I found her in the basement she was in her usual spot and had peed herself. I wanted to cry. I cleaned her up and then got my sleeping bag and camping lamp along with my transistor radio and she really relaxed. I can tell you the sleeping on a concrete floor is not fun.

Gracie did settle down. The power came back on and I sat with her until she fell back to sleep and I went back to bed.

That leads to today. When I brought her breakfast down, she was happy to see me. Wasn’t happy with her pain meds though. I’m glad today was her last dose. We played for a bit and it was nice to see her start to be active again.

I went to get ready for work and came back to play for a bit before I left. Thats when i noticed that Gracie had started using the litter box again. Another great sign. I had the collar on her at this point and for the first time I saw her drink with the collar for the first time. Win number 2 and i felt so much better having to leave her.

I’m now home from work and Gracie is sleeping next to me. She seems to sleep better without the collar, but i have to get some rest too. The best part is that I can see her healing up and getting better every day.
