Slow Week, Still Buzzing over TU’s win over UT.
Slow week here, we had our Departmental holiday party today, students are stressed from finals, and things have been very, very slow. Which is a nice change.
I am, however, still buzzing over Temple’s big win Saturday over Tennessee. UT is a very good team and will have a great season, but it really gives me a lot of faith in our team for this season and beyond. This was the first game this season where all of our players were healthy, and I really think they are starting to play Dunphy Ball.
Dionte Christmas(35 points) completely went of, but the player I was really most impressed with was Sergio Olmos. Serg has been something of an enigma, have some nice flashes of being a really good, but he played his most consistant game as an Owl. The time played was the most telling stat for me, because he made good decisions instead of stupid fouls. In one play, UT inbounded the ball and attempted an allie-oop. Sergio force the UT player to catch the ball away from the basket, then altered the shot and pulled down the rebound. More performances like Saturdays will put Sergio into the NBA.
How to turn a Photo to a Sketch in Photoshop
Ever look at a photo and think that would make a really nice sketch. I have, but if your like me and can’t draw you’re often left wondering. Not with Photoshop. Here are simple instructions to turn a photo into a sketch.
Here’s a picture I took at a shoot earlier this year. I think this would make a great sketch.

A photo that would make a great sketch!
1. Open your photograph in Photoshop.
2. Turn your photograph to black and white by clicking Image -> Adjustments -> Desaturate.
3. In the layers pallet, right click on the background layer and click “Duplicate Layer”
4. Rename the layer by double-clicking on the current name, “Background Copy.” Call is “Sketch.”
5. Invert the colors in the new layer by clicking Image -> Adjustments -> Invert.
6. On the layers pallet, change the blending mode “Color Dodge.” Your photo should now be 99% white.
7. Add a Gaussian Blur by clicking Filter -> Blur -> Gaussian Blur.
8. Use the Radius Slide to set the amout of “sketching” you want. In this example, I used 4.
9. Flatten the image by clicking Layer -> Flatten Image.
10. Save your image using File -> Save As so you don’t overwrite the original!

Why Marc172931?
Those are the car numbers of 3 of my 4 favorite drivers. (the 17 car is driven by Matt Kenseth, the 29 driven by Kevin Harvick and the 31 driven by Jeff Burton) I’m also a big fan of the 18 M&M’s car driven by Kyle Busch, the man most love to hate, but he won me over big time the last year. My all time favorite driver: Rusty Wallace.
Hi!
Ok, so this is basically just a place for me to rant and rave about whatever’s on my mind, being Temple sports, video games, politics, life the universe and everything.
So here’s my current rant. Last night I watched a rerun of CSI. CSI’s my favorite tv show and I’m bummed that Will Peterson is leaving. Watch “To Live and Die in LA” if you want to know how good an actor he is. But that’s not what I’m writing about. Last night was the first night I had to turn the channel during the show. All the blood and gore over the years, never had to turn away once, until last night. What was the show about: Dog Fighting, and they actually showed a fight. I know it was all staged but it really upset and angered me because I know that there really are people who put those animals through that, and I really don’t think any punishment his harsh enought. Look at Michael Vick. A few years in jail and then some desperate NFL team will probably give him millions of dollars to play again. I have a better solution, let the dog fighters fight. That’s right, let them fight each other, bighting aloud, just like the dogs they force to fight.
And when they are done fighting each other, they can fight someone like Mike Tyson. I think this would be a fair punishment. Just as a side thought, it’s amazing how I’m not the only one who has no problem putting a person who deserves it, but screw with a pet and I’m your worse enemy. No, I’m not a vegan or anything, I just like my dogs and cats and horses and . . .
